What are the production processes for plastic packaging bottles?

Plastic packaging bottles are widely used in industries such as cosmetics, food, medicine, and pharmaceuticals. The quality of a bottle is determined by the rigorous production process behind it. The mainstream plastic bottle production adopts the "two-step process of injection molding and blow molding": first, the bottle mold is made, and then it is blown into a bottle shape. The following production process is as follows:

1. Raw material preparation and treatment

Add plastic particles such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and PET, along with color masterbatches or additives required by the product, to avoid flaws such as foggy surfaces, bubbles, and silver streaks on the bottle body. The raw materials need to be dried thoroughly in a dehumidifier and then measured proportionally before being sent to the injection molding equipment. This step determines the stability of the subsequent molding process and is a crucial basic procedure.

2. Injection molding of the bottle mold

The injection molding stage mainly produces "bottle blanks". The injection machine heats and melts the plastic particles, injects them through the nozzle into the bottle blank mold, cools the mold, and after the bottle blank is shaped, it is demolded to obtain a bottle blank with a bottleneck and threads (similar to the shape of a test tube). The transparency, uniformity of wall thickness, and accuracy of the mouth of the bottle blank all have a significant impact on the quality of the final bottle.

3. Blow molding

After the bottle blank is made, it enters the blow molding stage. It is formed through "heating → stretching → blowing → cooling".

The bottle blank is placed on the heating head, and after being heated to a softened state by the blow molding machine equipment, it automatically enters the blow molding mold and undergoes initial stretching. Then, high-pressure air from the air compressor is injected into the bottle blank, causing it to expand and closely adhere to the inner wall of the mold, quickly forming the desired bottle shape. After cooling and shaping, the mold is opened, the finished bottle is removed, and the bottle body manufacturing is completed.

This process determines the shape, uniformity of wall thickness, and overall quality of the bottle.

4. Post-processing and quality inspection: Ensuring stable quality

After trimming off the excess burrs, inspecting the transparency, bubbles, impurities, color differences, etc., then covering with a lid and sealing, conducting pressure resistance, drop test, and if necessary, heat filling test. After passing the tests, it can be processed according to the customer's brand requirements, such as printing, gold stamping, labeling, disinfection (according to industry requirements), etc., and then packed and shipped after passing the inspection.

Each process is strictly controlled to ensure that every bottle delivered to the customer is stable and reliable.

The production of plastic packaging bottles is not just a simple "blowing out", but involves a complete process chain including raw material processing, injection molding of bottle blanks, blow molding, and strict inspection. A mature production process can ensure: transparent appearance, without flaws, uniform wall thickness, pressure resistance and drop resistance, precise bottle mouth, matching various pump heads/ lids, and meeting the packaging requirements of multiple industries.
